- Open House and Social on Aug. 26 from 6-7:30 PM, BMMS will host an open house for teachers, students and parents. Parents can fill out emergency cards, receive their students' schedules, locker combinations and order P.E. uniform (1st quarter students only). (See SOCIAL) A limited number LockerWorks Organizers will be available for purchase at both the Open House and Orientations. (see FUNDRAISING)
- 2010-11 Student Directory information is due September 13. Please stop by the PTA membership/directory table during the Open House to review and sign 2010-11 directory information form. (see COMMUNICATIONS)
- BMMS earned thousands of dollars last year just from families shopping at Giant, Safeway (or other eScrip stores), Harris Teeter, Target and Amazon.com and from saving Box Tops for Education. It only takes a few minutes to set up, and the school earns funds all year long from your regular purchases. So PLEASE re-designate BMMS online using these instructions. (See FUNDRAISING)

- Sign up for Safe-to-School program. Form due September 3rd. ( If your child will be absent, you are requested to call the Guidance Office at 410-313-2512 before the start of the school day. see HEALTH & SAFETY)

BMMS PTA Functions
The BMMS PTA enables many functions that support PTA objectives. These include:
Health & Safety: Promote a healthy and safe environment with the
Safe-to-School program, Wellness promotion activities and Howard County Drug Free
Representation.
Cultural Arts: Identify and fund special cultural arts days for each grade, supports residencies and PTA Reflections programs.
Social: Support community socialization with a fall activity and 8th grade end-of-year celebrations.
Advocacy: Advocate and support education and youth growth. The PTA coordinates American Education Week, promotes community Youth outreach,
has a Citizen's Advisory Council Delegate and has representation on the School Improvement Team (SIT).
Hospitality: Support teachers and special guests with conference week
dinners, back-to-school breakfast, holiday cookies and individual birthday recognition.
Communication: Encourages communication by publishing a school directory,
the development of this web site and periodic newsletters.
Membership: Promote PTA membership and functions.
Parent Volunteers: Coordinate volunteers for PTA programs and
support school functions.
The PTA also purchases Student Directories, Teacher Gift Cards and Student Planners.
Fundraising: Raise funds to support above programs. Please support our Magazine

BMMS PTA and students visited the White House to participate in the Healthy Kids Fair hosted by Mrs. Obama. BMMS PTA represented the National PTA after being awarded a grant to support healthy lifestyle initiatives.
